Biotics Research's Livotrit Plus is a unique and effective formulation of herbal extracts, incorporating Ayurvedic principals with western science, providing support for healthy liver metabolism and detoxification systems.
The liver is the largest solid organ of the body, and also holds the distinction of being the largest gland in the body since it makes and secretes bile, necessary for the absorption of dietary fats and fat-soluble vitamins. It also serves as the body’s primary detoxification organ, metabolizing and eliminating toxins such as those made by the body and what are called “exogenous” toxins such drugs, alcohol, chemicals or environmental toxins. Livotrit Plus® combines a well-researched mixture of unique Ayurvedic botanical extracts and specifically prepared herbs, including Tinospora cordifolia (Indian Tinospora) Boerhavia diffusa, Eclipta prostrata, Andrographis paniculata, Picrorhiza kurrooa, Berberis aristata, Silybum marianum (Milk Thistle), and Saccharum officinarum (sugarcane extract). The formula is prepared specifically to be low in iron.
The botanical extracts and polyphenols in Livotrit Plus® possess an extensive range of activities and antioxidant properties, with the ability to quench organic free radicals as well as superoxide. Silymarin has a long history of use in the West, and is used to support the liver and biliary tract. Additionally, there were no toxic or adverse effects observed in a review of clinical trials utilizing Silymarin. Sugar cane extract supplies Wulzen factor, an important fatsoluble nutrient, also known as an “anti-stiffness factor”, recommended as an Ayurvedic adjunct.
Biotics Research compared the antioxidant strength of Livotrit Plus® to both Silymarin alone and to Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), an organic compound useful for its antioxidant properties. The unique combination of herbs found in Livotrit Plus™ was demonstrated to have the highest antioxidant activity.
