Biotics Research Saccharomyces boulardii - 60 caps
Biotics Research's S. boulardii is a true "biotic" or living organism which has been shown to have beneficial affects by improving intestinal microbalance when administered in adequate amounts
Saccharomyces boulardii (S. boulardii) is a non‑pathogenic, non-colonizing yeast with probiotic properties. Though a yeast, it has no relation to the pathogenic yeast belonging to the Candida group of yeasts. Considered a true “biotic”, or living organism, S. boulardii has been shown to have multiple beneficial effects via improvement of intestinal microbalance. Oral administration of S. boulardii has been demonstrated to result in an increased steady-state concentration of organisms in the colon within three days. Once administration is stopped, the yeast is typically cleared from the stool within 3-5 days.
Gastrointestinal health is dependent on the balance of many different bacterial species. Disruption of this equilibrium, often triggered by antibiotic use, can lead to clinical symptoms of diarrhea. Oftentimes, long-term antibiotic use results in the development of Clostridium difficile, which makes alternatives therapies, such as Saccharomyces boulardii (S. Boulardii), more appealing. The use of S. boulardii has been associated with protection against enteric pathogens, support of the inflammatory pathways, improvement of tight junction structure and a modulation of the host immune response. S. boulardii may be helpful in cases of diarrhea associated with antibiotics and traveler's diarrhea, and in supporting intestinal microbalance and GI mucosal immune function.
Each capsule contains 235mg of S. boulardii, providing a minimum of 4 billion organisms at the time of production.
