Biotics Research Caprin - 250 caps
Biotics Research's Caprin provides a source of Caprylic acid (as calcium & magnesium caprylate), a medium-chain fatty acid.
Candida albicans are yeast belonging to the mold and fungi family. While they are normal inhabitants of the digestive tract at low levels, they have the potential to negatively impact health. Candida can grow on mucous membranes lining the body. Candida and other yeasts that live in the intestines are usually held in check by friendly gut bacteria and the immune system. However, Candida can spread when the immune system weakens, or as a result of antibiotic use, which can result in the decline of antibodies and an alteration of normal gut bacteria. Recent research suggests one round of common antibiotic use can result in the disruption of normal, healthy microflora that can last from four to twelve months. Diet can also be a contributing factor when it consists largely of refined carbohydrates and refined sugars.
Candida overgrowth may impact the skin and mucous membranes of the body. Typically, Candida overgrowth occurs in the colon, vagina, mouth, throat, lungs or nails. Overgrowth may manifest as headaches, confusion, fatigue, cramps, bloating, rectal or vaginal itching, or gas. If left unchecked, Candida overgrowth in the digestive tract can lead to dysbiosis and leaky-gut, which can result in a whole host of unwanted health issues. For example, fungal infections associated with Candida species are the fourth leading cause of nosocomial bloodstream infections in the US (CDC, 2008). Caprin™ provides specific nutritional assistance to help balance the intestinal flora by supporting the maintenance of internal candida stasis. Each capsule supplies 400 mg of Caprylic Acid as calcium and magnesium caprylate. Typical dosing recommendations are three to six capsules per day.
